Panel Discussion: Zero Carbon Building Development
Online registration closed. Accepting registrations at the door on November 14 (non-members credit card payment, $50 + HST).
Our panelists will examine several aspects of Zero Carbon building through a discussion about the economics and impetus behind the development of Toyota’s latest facility east of Toronto.
Join us on Thursday, November 14th for this conversation about Toyota’s new parts distribution facility which is targeting Zero Carbon Building-Design certification. Resiliency acted as a key theme throughout the design process, as the facility was not only designed for today’s world, but also to withstand the more extreme weather conditions expected in the future.
The session will focus on: 1) achieving Zero Carbon in a design-build process and the challenges faced; 2) the importance of a continuous integrative (energy modelling) approach; and 3) the technologies implemented to achieve Zero Carbon, such as geothermal, high-performance building envelope and solar PV.
Following this event attendees will be able to:
- Recognize the importance of an integrative process in finding the right solution for project-specific requirements.
- Understand the challenges of an integrative Zero Carbon approach in a design-build process, and how to overcome them.
- Be familiar with innovative technologies that lead to Zero Carbon design.
- Understand the economic viability of a Zero Carbon building.
